How Rune Costs Are Calculated
Elden Ring uses a cubic growth formula for rune costs. For levels 1–11, the cost follows a fixed linear progression. From level 12 onward, the cost per level follows a cubic curve defined by community-tested data:
cost(x) = 0.02x³ + 3.06x² + 105.6x − 895 (level ≥ 12)
Where x is your current level, and cost(x) is the number of runes required to reach level x+1. The total runes to go from level a to level b is the sum of all individual level costs between them.
