How Weapon Attack Rating Is Calculated
Each weapon in Elden Ring has base damage and attribute scaling values. The final Attack Rating (AR) is computed by multiplying the base damage by the upgrade level multiplier, then adding a scaling bonus from your character's stats. Stats follow softcaps at 20, 55, and 80 — after each threshold, additional points provide diminishing returns.
Total AR = Σ (BaseDMG × UpgradeMul) + (BaseDMG × ScalingValue × StatSaturation / 100)
Infusion Effects on Scaling
| Infusion | Physical | Primary Stat Boost | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heavy | 95% | STR ×1.8 | Pure Strength builds |
| Keen | 95% | DEX ×1.8 | Pure Dexterity builds |
| Quality | 90% | STR + DEX ×1.2 | Quality (40/40) builds |
| Magic | 70% | INT ×1.5 + Magic split | Sorcerer hybrids |
| Flame Art | 70% | FAI ×1.5 + Fire split | Faith casters |
| Blood | 85% | ARC ×1.2 | Bleed builds |
| Occult | 90% | ARC ×1.5 | Pure Arcane |
Weapon Upgrade Multipliers
- Regular weapons (+0→+25): Base × (1 + upgrade × 0.12). A +25 weapon deals 4× base damage.
- Somber weapons (+0→+10): Base × (1 + upgrade × 0.25). A +10 Somber weapon deals 3.5× base damage.
- Somber weapons cannot be infused — they are locked to their default scaling.
